如是我聞:一時佛在舍衛國 祇樹給孤獨園


爾時尊者摩訶迦葉在於邊遠草敷而住,衣被弊壞,染色變脫,鬚髮亦長,來詣佛所。爾時世尊大眾圍遶而為說法。時諸比丘見迦葉已,皆生是念:

「彼尊者不知出家所有威儀,衣色變穢,鬚髮亦長,威儀不具!」

爾時世尊知諸比丘心之所念,為欲令彼生欽尚故,遙見迦葉,即語之言:

「善來!迦葉!」

尋分半座,命令共坐:

「我當思惟: 『汝先出家,我後出家。』 是故命汝,與爾分座。」

摩訶迦葉聞斯教已,即懷惶悚,便起合掌,頂禮佛足,白佛言:

「世尊是我大師,我是弟子。云何與師同共同坐?」

第二、第三,亦作是言。佛告迦葉:

「實如汝言:我是汝師,汝是弟子。」

即命迦葉:

「汝可於彼所應坐處於中而坐。」

時尊者迦葉即奉佛教,敷座而坐。爾時世尊為欲令彼諸比丘等益增厭惡,自呵責故,為欲讚歎摩訶迦葉 * 功德,尊重與佛齊故,告諸比丘:

「我修離欲之定,入于初禪,作意思惟。迦葉比丘亦欲離惡不善,有覺有觀,入于初禪。亦復晝夜欲入初禪。二禪、三禪及第四禪,亦復如是。我若發心,欲入慈心、無嫌怨心、無惱心、遍廣心,善修無量,於其東方作如是心;南、西、北方,四維上下,亦作是心。我於晝夜欲修是心,摩訶迦葉亦復如是,欲入慈心、無嫌怨心、無惱心、遍廣心,善修無量,於其東方作如是心;南、西、北方,四維上下,亦作是心。我若修於悲、喜、捨心,我於晝夜常入此心,摩訶迦葉亦復如是,於晝夜中常入此心。我欲滅除惱壞, * 却於色想,除若干想,入無邊虛空,亦欲晝夜常入此定,識處不用處,非想非非想處,亦復如是。我亦欲入神通等定,能以一身作無量身,以無量身還作一身。我欲觀察諸方上下,入于石壁,無有障礙,猶如虛空。坐、臥空中,如彼鴈王。履地如水,履水如地。身至梵天,手捫日月。若我晝夜欲修是定,迦葉比丘亦復如是,欲入於彼神通等定,能以一身作無量身,以無量身還為一身,觀察四方,四維上下,能以此身入于石壁,無有障 * 閡,猶如虛空。坐、臥空中,如彼鴈王。履地如水,履水如地。身至梵天,手捫日月。亦欲晝夜常入此定,天眼、天耳及他心智、宿命、漏盡,亦復如是。」

爾時世尊彼無量大眾之中稱讚迦葉功德,尊重如是,種種與己齊等。


時諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

如是我聞:一時佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。


爾時尊者摩訶迦葉久住舍衛國阿練若床坐處,長鬚髮,著弊納衣,來詣佛所。時世尊無數大眾圍繞說法。時諸比丘見摩訶迦葉從遠而來。見已,於尊者摩訶迦葉所起輕慢心,言:

「此何等比丘,衣服[色-巴+鹿]麁陋,無有儀容而來?衣服佯佯而來?」

爾時世尊知諸比丘心之所念,告摩訶迦葉:

「善來!迦葉!於此半座!我今竟知誰先出家。汝耶?我耶?」

彼諸比丘心生恐怖,身毛皆[豎-豆+立]竪,並相謂言:

「奇哉!尊者!彼尊者摩訶迦葉大德大力,大師弟子,請以半座!」

爾時尊者摩訶迦葉合掌白佛言:

「世尊!佛是我師,我是弟子。」

佛告迦葉:

「如是,如是!我為大師,汝是弟子。汝今且坐,隨其所安。」

尊者摩訶迦葉稽首佛足,退坐一面。爾時世尊復欲警悟諸比丘,復以尊者摩訶迦葉同己所得殊勝廣大功德,為現眾故,告諸比丘:

「我離欲、惡不善法,有覺有觀,初禪具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。摩訶迦葉亦復如我離欲、惡不善法,乃至初禪具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。我欲第二、第三、第四禪具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。彼摩訶迦葉亦復如是,乃至第四禪具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。我隨所欲,慈、悲、喜、捨,空入處、識入處、無所有入處、非想非非想入處;神通境界:天耳、他心智、宿命智、生死智、漏盡智具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。彼迦葉比丘亦復如是,……(乃至)漏盡智具足住,若日、若夜、若日夜。」


爾時世尊於無量大眾中稱歎摩訶迦葉同己廣大勝妙功德已,諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

Jhānābhiññasuttaṃ

Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati

…pe… “ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati”.

“Ahaṃ bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā…pe… dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi pītiyā ca virāgā upekkhako ca viharāmi sato ca sampajāno sukhañca kāyena paṭisaṃvedemi, yaṃ taṃ ariyā ācikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satimā sukhavihārī’ti tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati pītiyā ca virāgā upekkhako ca viharati sato ca sampajāno, sukhañca kāyena paṭisaṃvedeti, yaṃ taṃ ariyā ācikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satimā sukhavihārī’ti tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati sukhassa ca pahānā …pe… catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ananto ākāsoti ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā…pe… ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma anantaṃ viññāṇanti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma anantaṃ viññāṇanti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati…pe… ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. “Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sabbaso ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samatikkamma nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati…pe… nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi sabbaso nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ samatikkamma saññāvedayitanirodhaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave…pe… saññāvedayitanirodhaṃ upasampajja viharati.

“Ahaṃ bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi anekavihitaṃ iddhividhaṃ paccanubhomi ekopi hutvā bahudhā homi, bahudhāpi hutvā eko homi; āvibhāvaṃ, tirobhāvaṃ, tirokuṭṭaṃ, tiropākāraṃ, tiropabbataṃ, asajjamāno gacchāmi, seyyathāpi ākāse; pathaviyāpi ummujjanimujjaṃ karomi, seyyathāpi udake; udakepi abhijjamāne gacchāmi, seyyathāpi pathaviyaṃ; ākāsepi pallaṅkena kamāmi, seyyathāpi pakkhī sakuṇo; imepi candimasūriye evaṃmahiddhike evaṃmahānubhāve pāṇinā parimasāmi parimajjāmi; yāva brahmalokāpi kāyena vasaṃ vattemi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati anekavihitaṃ iddhividhaṃ paccanubhoti…pe… yāva brahmalokāpi kāyena vasaṃ vatteti.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi dibbāya sotadhātuyā visuddhāya atikkantamānusikāya ubho sadde suṇāmi, dibbe ca mānuse ca, ye dūre santike ca. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati dibbāya sotadhātuyā…pe… dūre santike ca.

“Ahaṃ bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi parasattānaṃ parapuggalānaṃ cetasā ceto paricca pajānāmi– sarāgaṃ vā cittaṃ sarāgaṃ cittanti pajānāmi, vītarāgaṃ vā cittaṃ vītarāgaṃ cittanti pajānāmi, sadosaṃ vā cittaṃ…pe… vītadosaṃ vā cittaṃ… samohaṃ vā cittaṃ… vītamohaṃ vā cittaṃ… saṃkhittaṃ vā cittaṃ… vikkhittaṃ vā cittaṃ… mahaggataṃ vā cittaṃ… amahaggataṃ vā cittaṃ… sa-uttaraṃ vā cittaṃ… anuttaraṃ vā cittaṃ… samāhitaṃ vā cittaṃ… asamāhitaṃ vā cittaṃ… vimuttaṃ vā cittaṃ… avimuttaṃ vā cittaṃ avimuttaṃ cittanti pajānāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati parasattānaṃ parapuggalānaṃ cetasā ceto paricca pajānāti.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi anekavihitaṃ pubbenivāsaṃ anussarāmi, seyyathidaṃ– ekampi jātiṃ dvepi jātiyo tissopi jātiyo catassopi jātiyo pañcapi jātiyo dasapi jātiyo vīsampi jātiyo tiṃsampi jātiyo cattālīsampi jātiyo paññāsampi jātiyo jātisatampi jātisahassampi jātisatasahassampi, anekepi saṃvaṭṭakappe anekepi vivaṭṭakappe anekepi saṃvaṭṭavivaṭṭakappe– ‘amutrāsiṃ evaṃnāmo evaṃgotto evaṃvaṇṇo evamāhāro evaṃsukhadukkhappaṭisaṃvedī evamāyupariyanto so tato cuto amutra udapādiṃ; tatrāpāsiṃ evaṃnāmo evaṃgotto evaṃvaṇṇo evamāhāro evaṃsukhadukkhappaṭisaṃvedī evamāyupariyanto, so tato cuto idhūpapanno’ti. Iti sākāraṃ sa-uddesaṃ anekavihitaṃ pubbenivāsaṃ anussarāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati anekavihitaṃ pubbenivāsaṃ anussarati, seyyathidaṃ– ekampi jātiṃ…pe… iti sākāraṃ sa-uddesaṃ anekavihitaṃ pubbenivāsaṃ anussarati.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhāmi dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena satte passāmi cavamāne upapajjamāne hīne paṇīte suvaṇṇe dubbaṇṇe, sugate duggate yathākammūpage satte pajānāmi– ‘ime vata, bhonto, sattā kāyaduccaritena samannāgatā vacīduccaritena samannāgatā manoduccaritena samannāgatā ariyānaṃ upavādakā micchādiṭṭhikā micchādiṭṭhikammasamādānā; te kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapannā, ime vā pana, bhonto, sattā kāyasucaritena samannāgatā vacīsucaritena samannāgatā manosucaritena samannāgatā ariyānaṃ anupavādakā sammādiṭṭhikā sammādiṭṭhikammasamādānā; te kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapannā’ti. Iti dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena satte passāmi cavamāne upapajjamāne hīne paṇīte suvaṇṇe dubbaṇṇe, sugate duggate yathākammūpage satte pajānāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, yāvadeva ākaṅkhati dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena satte passati cavamāne…pe… yathākammūpage satte pajānāti.

“Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharāmi. Kassapopi, bhikkhave, āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatī”ti.
